Long time no type! I'm still around, don't worry. Just haven't been in the blogging sorta mood. I've sure been reading all sorts of new blogs though, and boy am I inspired!

A few of my new blog sites are:
*remodelaholic
U Create
Someday Crafts
My Repurposed Life
My Dear Trash

Are you sensing what my newest interests are??? Yep, you guessed it, REPURPOSING! I've even, believe it or not, began "junking" as my dear friend DEE calls it. It includes going to yard sales and 2nd hand stores, both not really my thing... BUT, I now see possibility rather than used junk when I go to these stores! That's a change huh. I suppose I should start taking pics of my "junking" finds... but, that'll be another day. Besides I've already started to alter the a bit!

I'M SO GLAD I'M CREATIVE!!!!!!!!

Ok back to work for now- thanks for hanging in there for me!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-29393743341564884172010-02-24T15:59:00.000-08:002010-02-24T15:59:45.835-08:00Vegas baby, VegasI don't have much to say today... just so VERY EXCITED for Vegas tomorrow! Yes I do still have to work a full day, but hey that's okay cuz I don't have to take any time off of work for my fun weekend! All I keep thinking is

VEGAS
BABY

Yes I AM dancing on the bar, and yes that is me about to pass out while trying to get some food after a long night of drinking and dancing... I apparently complained of the slow service... maybe cuz I was sleeping!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-21336972600058689922010-02-16T12:40:00.000-08:002010-02-16T12:40:40.098-08:00Random HilarityI know I laugh at the stupidest things, it's part of my charm. I was on http://www.stumbleupon.com/ today and stumbled across this website. http://www.safenow.org/. I couldn't even finish looking at the pictures cuz I was cracking up so much that I didn't want my cubicle neighbors to wonder what I was doing.

Ok I went back and finished looking at the pictures. I was able to calm myself by putting on a little Black Eyed Peas in my earbuds. Here's my favorite of all the safety signs...
Conversations with him are & were always so awkward. I'm a chatter... I'll admit it. It was so hard working for for someone who just cannot converse like a normal person... wait let me rephrase that- converse like a non-scientist person. Those scientists just have so much going on in their brain that is so much more important than the meaningless conversations I have, but um- back on track...

I would sit at my desk every day as he walked in and out of his office, right past my desk with out saying: good morning, hi, how's it going, nothing!!! As if I was invisible. That's just so frustrating. How can people just pretend like you aren't there. NO there wasn't a wall in front of my desk so he wouldn't know if I was there or not. He could hear me talking to other people. He could hear me laugh-- I mean, who can't hear me laugh! Even my new boss knows my laugh and comes looking for me beause he knows I'm close by. I know, I know, back to the story (oh and I changed names to protect the innocent, except my own of course, because that would just be dumb)-But those of you who know me, know who it really is!

So he stopped by my cube today and the conversation went something like this...
B) Hi Jenn
J) Hi Brent
B) How's it going?
J) Good. How about you?
B) Going good.
J) How's Kim (wife)
B) Good.
J) Good. How's the kids?
B) Good.
J) How's the new building?
B) Good.
J) Oh good. I was over there last week. It was nice, as nice as cubicles can be I guess.
B) Yeah, the labs are nice
B) How's your boy? Is he causing you problems yet?
J) No, luckily, but he's only 3. It'll come with the territory I suppose.
B) Yeah. Ok bye.

I think it took about 2 minutes total for him to talk to me. It was probably the worst 2 minutes of his day, but then again- HE was the one who stopped by to talk to me, not the other way around. People can be so weird!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-3794099966350663962010-02-05T14:21:00.001-08:002010-02-05T14:43:32.703-08:00Oh the Antique Store- "smell"I've really been getting into this whole vintage scrapbooking thing lately. I've been enjoying the hunt for treasures at the antique stores and goodwill and stores of the like. All the antique stores have this little flier that lists all the other stores in town. This does seem odd to me that they're advertising the other stores, but whatever. It's their business, not mine. So anyway- There's one that I've seen a sign for a few times now, Pat Sime Antiques. It's not on the "list" but somehow I found it anyway.

Today is my day off. Ace and I were headed out for coffee at my favorite little Dutch Bros when I drove by the Pat Sime sign. I thought, what the heck, Ace can go in there with me. I'll be quick. What's 5 minutes, right. We walked in, and first off, it's an ice box in there. No, not exagerating, it's really really cold. I even had my coat on, and was cold. Poor Ace, he hadn't wanted his coat (remember, he's 3- and has a mind of his own). "MOM, it's cold in here" he says. I wasn't going to point it out, but I agreed with him and told him I'd be quick.

The antique store had a smell all it's own, as most do. It smells musty and old and almost like a vintage shoppers version of death, or maybe just what I remember of my grandmothers basement. This is the same smell that made me refuse to go to the Goodwill & Value Village type stores for many many years. Just plain gross.

"MOM, IT'S STINKY IN HERE", came this small voice from across the room. I smirk to myself, knowing full well how bad it smelled. It was just Ace and I and the shop owners daughter. I politely replied, "I know honey, just breathe through your mouth, I'll be quick" and continued shopping. The whining started, "but mom, it's STINKY!", as he starts to gag. (He has a super sensitive gag reflex). "I know honey, I'm almost done" He's now holding his plastic coffee cup (hot chocolate) in one hand, plugging his nose with the other and has tears running down his face as he loudly proclaimed- "MOM- SOMEONE POOPED IN HERE!" I was a bit embarrased, but went over and scooped him up and let him whine on my shoulder. We left shortly after, but you've just gotta love the embarrasing things kids say!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-26396943017571856092010-02-03T09:18:00.000-08:002010-02-03T09:38:14.475-08:00LingerieI peruse many scrapbooking blogs (via RSS mostly) throughout the day. Some I just look at the pictures, others I actually read every word, sometimes multiple times. Today my RSS list is 45 strong... wow! How do I have time to work when there's scrapping to think about! Ok on to today's little gem!

I started out on The Gal Blog post from yesterday. Yes, the lingerie card... I think it's darling! My mind started running with it and now I think I must go buy some new ribbons! But I wanted to see the template for one, and for two, I wanted to see everyone else's takes on it. I was thinking back to CKC Seattle last November (oh what fun we had!) and this super cute booth had a darling chipboard bra. I wanted it but didn't know what to do with it then... now I wish I'd have bought it. Sorry- back on track, so while reading the post on The Gal Blog, she has a link to more designs on the ScrapFIT blog- Even Cuter!!! In that blog, she puts a link to the actual template... didn't know you were going blog hopping today did you!?! Ok so I'll give you the shortcut- but you really really should check out the other blogs.... they're great ones! Ok here's the link to the template, it's on the Much Ado About Nothing blog - click here for the template.

Ok- so now I want to see YOUR version of the lingerie card! Believe me, if I had my supplies with me right now I would SO be doing this! Maybe I should sketch it out... great idea!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-24269299375175061412010-01-31T09:42:00.000-08:002010-01-31T09:56:39.016-08:00Vintage Valentine AdventOk yesterday I told you that I had an extra special Valentine for you. Here it is! It's a Vintage Valentine Advent board! Oh I just love it! Cassandra Cooper from Shabby Green Door taught the class and it used papers from her new line On the Wings of a Dream. It's not my favorite holiday, but the thoughts surrounding it are fun. My husband and I always go out to dinner the day before to avoid the masses of people out for the 14th, and also, it's cheaper to not have to order off their one item menu's. Ok enough about the down side of the day... and now on to my decorations!

Since I'm such a little paper crafter- I figured I better decorate my entry way for the lovely day. I bought these darling letters at Michael's for $1.99 a piece. I wanted the larger ones, but of course, they were out of the "L"... figures. That's okay. These worked out just fine! They are about 5" tall. So I bought them and put 'em by the front door. They were cute, but just not cute enough.

Yesterday, I met Dee at Craft Warehouse for a little girl time, and boy did I need it! After all day with a cranky 3 year old, I was ready for some quiet time (aka shopping). Dee and I perused the store, aisle after aisle. Putting things in our carts, taking them out again, just to put them back in. I found the cutest papers by Making Memories, Love Struck. Something about it just caught my eye. I'm not sure if it's because it felt a little vintagey to me, or it was just ultra cutesy, but I decided that I had to have them. 3 sheets, $2.40. Not too bad. All I could think about was altering the LOVE letters with this paper. I LOVE how they turned out! Don't you! Oh they are SO CUTE, way more so in person, than the pictures, but oh well, this will have to do! For only $11.00- I think it's pretty awesome!

Ok so I wasn't done there, this paper was just calling to me! I had bought a random $3.00 frame from Wal-mart a few weeks ago. I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it, but just staring at this paper and trying to be creative, I came up with THIS! I removed the glass, glued my background paper onto the back part of the frame (it folds down) and started placing pieces on it. The glitz in the corners are actually brads that I just broke the prongs off of, and a chandelier crystal hangs from the center. Oh and the Cupid is actually Tim Holtz Grunge Board. I painted it a light cream then sprayed Latte and Silver Glimmer Mist on it once it was dry. Isn't it cute! Oh my entry way just looks so festive!

Just wait til you see what I created TODAY! I'm really starting to like this vintage look and her site is just full of it! Well, in any case, she's hosting this fun Valentines Bingo. You had to send your choice words and each day she'll call out a few words until someone types BINGO! Well, today- I may have been a tad bored at work- so I created my bingo card for the Bingo game. It was worth an extra 2 points, so what the heck right! Well, here's what I could do with my limited resources at my desk. Oh, and go check out Angela's blog!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-48155356805817400552010-01-19T20:41:00.000-08:002010-01-19T20:50:00.741-08:00My 1st publication submission!Ok I FINALLY did it! I found this FAB website that shows me all the scrapbook submission, design team, and contest calls, and I decided that it was time to submit! Well. It's a start. And, it was a digital submission because it was already on my computer, but it's ok! I'm proud of myself! This is a digital layout I did back in June-09. The call was for layouts that use the color turquoise. I think I'm safe! Anyway, you probably want me to share my new favorite link with you, so here you go! Enjoy submitting your work and best of luck! Oh I suppose I should also say that I submitted to Canadian Scrapbooker (even though I'm an American). http://scrapbookcalls.typepad.com/Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-75962275369920264712010-01-18T08:39:00.000-08:002010-01-18T08:44:06.233-08:00illuminate necklace give away!

While reading Heidi Swapp's blog posting this morning, she mentioned a great give away from Lisa Leonard- a beautiful Illuminate Necklace! I know it. I accept it. I embrace it. I can come up with tons of reasons why I haven't done something, although the real reason, I just didn't want to do it! Ok so the first thing I was able to scratch off my list tonight was this-

Each month since Ace was born (Dec 2006) I have compiled images from the previous month, loaded them to a website, and sent them to friends and family. 3 years I've been doing this. I used post it pretty close to the beginning of the month-But now... it's whenever I feel like it. So, I mentioned it to Garrick about how I hadn't done it yet. He said- well, the month is 1/2 over, no need to do it now. Then I felt bad. I know everyone is looking forward to seeing what my little guy did last month! So, tonight, I sat down, and did it. I know you're dying to see too so here's the link.

Now the second item, for the most part, was not me procrastinating. I know you're probably not agreeing with me, but really it wasn't my fault. So, the night I had my cookie party, I told everyone that I would be sending them a file with all the compiled recipes. I had even typed up a few of the receipes onto the digital kit before the party started! I was so excited! I was hoping to have it out w/in a few days, beacuse it really does take some work to do this. So, I typed, and edited, and saved my files. It was down to the last 5 recipes, all from one baker. I know I could have sent out the files without these last recipes and sent them later, but I wanted to finish this project and be done. Well, last week I finally got the recipes, got them typed up, edited, etc. and compiled them into one large PDF file. Now came the procrastination part. I had the ENTIRE WEEKEND to send it out, but I didn't. Of course not, I know that's what you're thinking. But- in any case, I used facebook to find everyone's email addresses and sent them the file tonight. Whether anyone does anything with it is irrelevant. I just know I finally completed a second item. Two in one night! Whooo Hoooo! So, for those of you interested, I got the FREE digital recipe kit at Shabby Princess. It turned out super cute! If by so off chance you would like the file of recipes, please feel free to email me. I'll get it to you... sooner or later! ;)

TTFN! I follow Kayla Aimee on her blog, her twitter and her facebook. Yes, her tweets DO come to my phone because her posts are just that funny that I have to read them as soon as she posts! I feel like I know her, but have never met her. Although this one time, she tweeted something, and then I replied to it and she replied to me! Isn't that cool! Ok, maybe not to you, but she's my little "celebrity blogger" friend. And then... oh wait- back to the subject at hand...

SO, I was looking at the feedjit list, and people are getting to me via Kayla Aimee. So I clicked on the link that they are coming from, figuring it's going to link me back to a comment I made to one of her posts, but NO- I am on her BLOG ROLL! I'm so excited! I think I need to go back and repeat the "I KNOW I'M A NERD" comment???

Anyway- I crafted lots this weekend. I finished tag #10 of my vintage Christmas advent calendar (very very glad Christmas is still 348 days away). I also have been tasked with making a little "baby album" for my new cousin to be, due in February. The album is jungle animal theme. I finished 4 of the 20 pages in 3 1/2 hours. It's turning out SO SO CUTE! I'm afraid I won't want to part with it when I'm done. I have to finish the book by the shower on 1/30, so if only I didn't have to work, I could actually scrap and get it done! I know you want to see pictures, but well- I don't have any yet. I will post them, promise!

Well, I guess I better get back to work, so that I can get the rest of the work day done and then maybe scrap tonight, if I'm not too tired. TTFN! Friday morning at the Quick Quotes booth, they had this darling make-n-take for only $5.00! You got all the supplies and put it together right there. It's made on their super cool canvas boards. I finally got around to adding pictures to it today and put it up by my front door! How cute is this! :)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj9X8JgMlNlv8_j1XhJJjhTwf5kdCZOykXGUnNlo5jxGho7SoDQSCRGg_XhfEYI4EEfRI42TYMwy_BGg5iAMaZhP10WSQZeWStuFKa04dLl2QBcV0Gak4f0IW4DbsEBcJF-xh0KNu1gO0/s320/CIMG8671.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422632376802589170" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1hJQnkX_5zzmT-hjvUqN5GfQs_VTDE-KpV_usK1G5zjkI2l5mP3soumrczMJvmIbWmXiErYmlkAJozjhciQaDI90EIrfw4e02bGR2bNTnUuNpM1XFpWiUNvblp7Z-Bhsxx2jiQBkZdV0/s320/CIMG8676.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422632385465005970" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-64624557414531514852010-01-03T09:19:00.000-08:002010-01-03T20:19:03.151-08:00My Finished Starbucks AlbumA few months ago, I started working on my Starbucks album, created by Wilna Furstenberg. I posted a pic of her album on this blog posting. Well I finished this album about a month or so ago, but then in my horribly cluttered room, I misplaced it. I finally found it again and took pics. Here it is! All my little hints and lessons learned are on my previous blog post here incase you want any pointers! I hope you enjoy making yours as much as I did making mine! I LOVE IT!
<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; Well, John Mayer sings something about Red Wine & Ambien which makes me smile, although I hate red wine and have never taken Ambien. But I still find it amusing.
*Noticing that my desk is pretty messy. I should really straighten up my cubicle insted of updating my blog.
*From the kitchen freezer and into Ace's lunchbox this morning went a bag of chicken nuggets with fries and a waffle (both by his request). Guess that doesn't mean that they should remain on display, but i just don't feel motivated to put them away. Maybe tomorrow!

*One of my favorite things is enjoying my morning coffee which Ace and I stop for DAILY! I always get the same thing- 20 oz, quad shot, extra sugar free vanilla, non-fat latte, and Ace gets his kids vanilla steamer or chocolate milk. Today our barista Jamie remembered both of our drinks! Now that's what I'm paying him for! A Happy Coffee Morning!

I wish you a safe and happy New Years Eve and a Wonderfully Happy New Year! I thought this might be interesting (at least for me) to be able to look back at my thoughts, ideas, daily things... well, that is- only if I can keep up with posting! I know I'm not the most devoted blogger, but hey I'm trying! I know you are probably thinking that I should make it a New Year's resolution, but I never keep my resolutions so why start making them now, just to break them in a few days! But in any case... here goes nothing!

-Outside my window- Snow! Beautiful, white, fluffy snow! So much snow! (ok, maybe only 1" max, but that's a lot!)
-I am thinking that my desk chair is not really comfortable any more.
-I am thankful for my fabulous 3 year old son Ace, my husband who cooks us dinner every day, and my many friends and family who make me feel like I am somebody!
-I am wearing a black Ralph Lauren sweater that I have owned for about 6+ years, but can't bear to part with, a new pair of jeans from Maurices and my hair up in a messy knot because I'm too lazy to make my hair look nice for work.
-I am remembering how much fun I had last night in Hermiston at Cassandra Cooper's house creating a vintage advent calendar for Christmas (next year) with my girlfriends
-I am going to have lunch with my friend Tracy today, in her office, and enjoy some homemade chili and cornbread, instead of the frozen Healthy Choice lunch that I brought with me today.
-I am currently listening to my Ipod on shuffle, with Rob Thomas, Owl City, Lady Gaga, Pink & Train (among others)
-I am hoping that the roads are not icy tonight when I leave work and head home
-My favorite song lyrics "Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air", by Pink, song title- Glitter in the Air
-Noticing that it is about 11:30 and I'm really getting hungry for lunch
-From the kitchen come my two pugs, Lola and Lucky, after scouring the floor for any scraps they could find.
-Around the house are Ace's toys, everywhere, every corner, every room, every table, they all have some sort of toy on them.
-One of my favorite things is when Ace grabs my hand, holds it up to his lips, and gives me a kiss, then looks at me and smiles so lovingly. That boy melts my heart!

Wow- that was not as simple as I thought it would be, but simple at the same time. Have a wonderful Wednesday!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5673380959145297574.post-72620017352728540572009-12-18T13:00:00.000-08:002009-12-18T13:30:34.429-08:00Christmas OrnamentsI really love the holidays and especially love Christmas. I love putting up the *live* Christmas tree and putting on all the lights and ornaments. Although Ace is only 3, he really enjoys it too. This was his second year getting to put the star on the top once we were all done. I think that's his official duty from now on. He loves it!

I read an article in one of my many parenting magazines a few years ago about how hard it was for adults to give up their nicely decorated tree for one that has ornaments on only the top half. The suggestion the article gave, was to give the child(ren) their own tree to decorate however they like. While I do think this is a good idea in some respects, I have yet to purchase a tree just for him. At this stage, I want Ace to admire and touch the tree the tree, arrange the ornaments, and enjoy the decorations. I want him to remember being a part of the decorating and preparations for the big day! My favorite part of him helping to decorate the tree is a tradition that I started with a few of my close friends. Instead of exchanging gifts for the kids, we started exchanging an ornament. The ornaments I have chosen have been picture frames which I put a picture of the two friends in. It allows us to remember the fun times we had together this year, and next year when we once again unpack our ornaments, we can smile at the growth our children have had over the past year. It's also fun to look at the other non-photo ornaments he has received and smile as I tell Ace who gave that to him (marking with a sharpie helps!). Here is this years ornament for Maddie & Ace.

What are some of your traditions you've started that you just love?

Wishing you a Merry Christmas filled with many fond memories!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
