Quick Halloween Gifty Bags

Ace has a little Halloween pumpkin hunt at his school today. Although he doesn't go to school on Friday's, I was told I could bring him for the hunt. I thought it would be nice if I brought his teachers a little treat bag of cookies. I stayed up until midnight playing Betty Crocker and whipped up some wonderful Double Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies. I didn't have enough white sugar so I altered the recipe a little bit. I used 1/4 c white sugar and 1/2 c brown sugar. They turned out soo yummy! The pumpkin hunt is at 3 so I can't wait to give them to his teachers! Horray for Halloween!

2 new projects

I got another cute magnet made tonight. Wasn't sure how much I liked it until I saw the actual picture I took. Weird I know, but hey- that's my process! Used "colorwash" on the grungeboard butterfly and stickles on the heart on the butterfly. I traced in white also the blue swirly designs on the paper to make them stand out a bit more.

Also altered this puzzle piece. Mystic Paper in Mesa, AZ had an altered puzzle piece swap recently. I didn't participate but wish I would have. I do have my own puzzle though. It's a 5 ft floor puzzle with 45 pieces. Probably way to many pieces to imagine doing myself, but maybe my friends and my followers - would like to alter one for me to add to my collection. I think at least for now, I'd like to alter each piece individually and then put it together to see how it looks with every piece being so different. I can only imagine what it'll look like. If I weren't so tired, I'd probably go do another piece. Well, for now- here's my 1st of 45 pieces of my puzzle. But let me know if you want to do a piece for me! Thanks! :)

Repurposing Magnets

Ran across Ali Edwards blog last week about repurposing old magnets that you were tired of. Long story short, the post showed how to use your used up gift cards (ie. starbucks, walmart, etc.) cover them with paper or fabric and then glue an old magnet to the back. You then have a brand new magnet. It's genius. How come I never thought of that before?

I forwarded the blog posting to my friend Kelley, told her she was in charge of finding the old/used up gift cards and to come over on Friday night. We had such fun creating and laughing and of course drinking wine! Here are my 2 creations from Friday night. I should have taken pictures of hers too. Her's were great!

I also created this little doozie. Kelley had some unwanted round magnets w/ these pebble type stones on them. I took the back off and was left with just the pebble. I then took a Heidi Swapp clock, used some crystal effects on the back of the pebble and glued it down. I cut the back off of a brad, placed it through the arrow and used crystal effects to glue both of those down. I set the time on the clock for about 4:30 which is when I get off of work. Once it was all dry, I used some gold paint type stuff on the edges of the clock and a little on the pebble. Then I glued a magnet to the back of the clock and I have a very unique magnet.

In addition, Deanna came over last night and scrapped with me. I ended up creating this darling layout with some Pinecone Press papers. I made the lo without any pictures in mind. I started flipping through my pics and found this one of Ace from when he was about 6 months old. It fit perfectly with the colors. I love my boy!

I also created one last magnet. This one was a glass marble for making magnets with from my lss. I traced the marble and hand cut the paper. Poured some crystal effects (also called diamond glaze) on the marble, added my paper and sort of squeezed out the extra glaze which I then rubbed on the back. I let it dry over night. Today I added some more crystal effects to the back to adhere the magnet and added some self adhesive pearls to the front to accent the bird cage. I really like how it turned out (especially since I don't care for birds!).

Have a creative week!

Journaling made easy

I read over and over about how important it is to have your own handwriting on your scrapbook pages so that later generations can see your style. Honestly, I am not that fond of my penmanship. I would prefer to sit here at my keyboard and type my thoughts and rearrange my words until it's exactly the way I want it. Lucky for me, there is a way to do both! My dear friend Dee showed me this great website "Font Capture" that will create a font based on your handwriting! They make it so simple. You print out their form, write your letters in their boxes, scan and upload to their site. About 20 seconds later, you have your own font of your own writing! The best part... IT'S FREE!!! I know I've downloaded many of the CK fonts of other's writing... maybe someday someone will want to download mine. hmmm, or not. Either way, it's still a great way to get your penmanship on your scrap pages without having to throw away 50 journal tags after you misspell a word. Thanks Dee!

Someone Links to ME!

I am so happy to know that someone else's blog has a link to mine!!! I was just checking out my latest visitors, and it showed that someone came to my site via SlinkyCatsPlace. I cliked on the link, out of curiosity and scrolled thru her blog roll and there was a link to my blog! WOW! That just makes me feel so happy inside! Thanks SlinkyCat! :)

Altered Frame

I found this neat frame thing at the Dollar store. It was painted some gross combination of powder blue and rust. Thought I could make something cute out of it. I'm pretty happy with the results. I first mixed up some magenta and white paint to create something to cover up the blue and rust. Painted the whole thing. Then I cut out the papers, glued them on with my liquid Tombo (green bottle cap), and embellished. I used a brown ink for distressing the edges after I sanded off the excess paper. I had to decorate both sides of the hanging frame and now I'm not sure which side I like better. I used some of the fancy rounded paper clips to suspend the frame. The rings that came with the frame were pretty chintzy. What do you think?

I'm tired!

Catching up from 3 days of scrapping and minimal sleep sure takes it's toll on you! But, as with every week- we're back to work and the days just go by and by and by. Hoping this week goes by quickly. I'm going to try to motivate myself to scrap a little this week. I have some UFO's (un-finished-objects) from my scrap weekend that need to be completed. Have a creative day!

Back from a scrapbook retreat!

OK I know I didn't tell you I was going on a Scrapbook Retreat... but- in my defense, the last time I told you, I never posted the pics of my creations. SO this time, I thought I'd just surprise you! I had an awesome time and especially loved scrapping into the night with my girlfriends! There are just so many pictures that instead of adding them to this posting, I thought that I would just post them and add it to my blog. Enjoy the little slideshow
